The recent fires and flooding in Ventura and Santa Barbara Counties have affected some of our CSEA members, CSEA Retirees, and their families.  I want to remind everyone of the ability to apply for different types of Assistance Funds from CSEA:  Emergency Assistance and Humanitarian Assistance.
Emergency Assistance Program - If a member's primary residence is deemed uninhabitable as a result of a catastrophic event, such as an earthquake, fire or flood, that member can apply for up to $1,000 in immediate emergency assistance.  This program can also be used to assist eligible organizations that are providing aid in areas that have been declared federal disaster areas as a result of a catastrophic event (such as fire, earthquake or flood).Emerg Asst Form.pdf

Humanitarian Assistance Program - When a member incurs significant financial hardship due to circumstances beyond their control, that member can applyfor up to $500 of financial relief through the Humanitarian Assistance Program.  You must submit such request to CSEA Member Benefits within 30 days of the financial emergency.  If approved, payments will be made directly to appropriate vendors (utility company, landlord, mortgage lender, etc.).Humanitarian Asst. Please contact me if you need any further assistance.

How you can help?
If you were fortunate enough to NOT be impacted by the fires and flooding, consider making a donation to the Dorothy Bjork Assistance Fund.  I have a monthly deduction taken for this valuable member resource; but any donations are welcome.  Contact Member Benefits at 1-866-487-2732 - to make either a one-time donation or sign up for a monthly on-going donation, used to help all of our brothers and sisters within the union.
