Have a Heart
Helping our fellow members in need
February is CSEA Have a Heart Month, a time when CSEA members make an extra effort to raise money for the Dorothy Bjork Assistance Fund, which is used to help members facing extreme circumstances. This year, members are going above and beyond for each other, providing assistance to those in need.
Sandra Ferguson
Dedicated to student safety
Classified employees perform the widest variety of jobs of any group of school workers. But while job classifications may call for us to drive students to school, feed them, maintain their campuses and help them learn, all classified employees have one job in common: looking out for the well-being of students.
Rob Feckner
Rob Feckner re-elected as CalPERS President
The California Public Employees' Retirement System (CalPERS) Board of Administration unanimously re-elected former CSEA President Rob Feckner to his 12th term as Board President.
Gov Brown
Governor Brown releases his 2016-17 state budget proposal
The Governor released his 2016-17 budget proposal, stating that relative to years past, the budget continues to be in good shape.
New Laws
New laws for 2016
Several laws affecting California’s workers are set to take effect in 2016. Some of these laws will impact classified employees working in public schools and community colleges while others will only affect private-sector workers.
Safety Planning
Planning is key to school safety
Lessons learned from school emergencies highlight the importance of preparing school officials and first responders to implement emergency operations plans. By having plans in place to keep students and staff safe, school employees play a key role in taking preventative and protective measures to stop an emergency from occurring or reduce the impact of an incident.
Fire Response
CSEA provides assistance after massive wildfires
When crisis strikes, your CSEA family is here. Members and staff exemplified this promise when two massive wildfires broke out in Northern California, destroying more than 1,800 homes and forcing residents into evacuation centers.
Wellness Champions

CSEA in partnership with Kaiser Permanente is here to support a healthy lifestyle for CSEA members through the CSEA Wellness Champions program. It’s easy to participate. Find out what you can do to get active.
