CalPERS Board re-elects Feckner as president
Former Association President Rob Feckner was unanimously re-elected as president of the California Public Employees' Retirement System (CalPERS) Board of Administration. He will be serving his 11th term as president.
Governor Brown releases his 2015-16 budget proposal
Governor Jerry Brown laid out his vision for the next four years that continues to build on a platform of fiscal restraint, paying down the state's wall of debt and fighting climate change. With respect to education funding, a strengthening economy and the passage of Proposition 30 continue to provide higher state revenues. Increased state revenues will allow the state to invest nearly $8 billion in significant new funding for K-12 schools and community colleges.
No One Eats Alone Day
CSEA is partnering with Beyond Differences to promote National No One Eats Alone Day on Feb. 13. This event is a student-led effort to end the social isolation that can lead to bullying and other negative impacts on kids’ mental health and academic success. Learn more about how your school can participate.
Cash for College Workshop
Have a graduating high school senior? CSEA is proud to offer Cash for College Workshops in January and February. Learn all about how financial aid works and the opportunity for free money for college and get free, one-on-one assistance in completing your FAFSA or Dream Act application.
Maintenance & Operations Academy
Attention maintenance and operations workers: Get the latest training in your field at one of CSEA's Maintenance and Operations Academies this February and March. The M&O Academy covers an array of topics and offers Cal/OSHA 10 certification.
Black Friday
CSEA members join Black Friday protests
On Black Friday, CSEA members showed their support for Walmart Workers protesting against low wages and part-time schedules. The Walmart protests were part of a national call to action, with thousands of demonstrators gathering at more than 1,600 Walmart stores across the country on Nov. 28.

Register now for the 18th Annual California Paraeducator Conference. The conference will be held April 14-16, 2015 in San Jose and is open to all classified employees with a special focus on paraeducators.
