Members of the Year 2011
Each year, CSEA honors members who go above and beyond in service to students and CSEA with the Member of the Year award.
The five CSEA members selected as 2011’s members of the year excel on the job, connect with students, and show they care. These individuals understand their role in education. They know that going that extra mile will help students succeed in the long run and they know that classified employees make a difference. Their coworkers recognize their diligence and dedication, and CSEA congratulates them for a job well done.

Alicia Cuevas Bilingual Liaison Instructional Aide Palermo Union School District CSEA Palermo Chapter 366
"It is rare to be in Alicia's presence without a child running up and wrapping his/her arms around her, or a parent calling for her advice. Alicia treats each child as if he/she were her own. She is kind and understanding, yet demanding and firm. She not only teaches children English, she teaches them to love themselves and each other." -- Theresa Holyoak, District Coordinator of Special Education |

Michele Delao Special Education Paraprofessional Wheatland School District CSEA Wheatland Chapter 626
"She always strives to help out anyone she comes in contact with. This has been evident through the multiple fundraisers and outreach that she has organized for our members in times of need. Michael Reese Maintenance Supervisor San Diego County Office of Education CSEA San Diego County Office of Education Chapter 568
"Mike is the person most people think of when they think of CSEA. Archie Speak Head Custodian I Oceanside Unified School District CSEA Oceanside Unified Chapter 370
"Character is doing the right thing when no one is looking,' is just the tip of the iceberg with Archie Speak. I think he might even argue with himself over what would be the best way to do the right thing. Archie is kind, thoughtful, generous, compassionate, thorough, methodical, analytical, precise, responsible and capable, and not necessarily in that order. " -- David Lessard, President, Chapter 370 |
