Your R&N Committee encourages you to visit the R&N Committee Webpage.  There are a lot of resources available to you on our webpage and we provide updates throughout the year.

Every Area within CSEA has an R&N Committee member appointed by the Association President.   Your Area Committee member is available to you as a resource as you prepare to sit down at the bargaining table with your school district.  Each Committee member's contact information can be found on our Committee Webpage.  Your R&N Committee members are:

Troy Johnson, Chairperson

Area A:  Ian Bates                                           Area F:  Adam McQueen

Area B:  Thomas Hagle                                  Area G:  Arthur Siegrist Jr.

Area E:  Jennifer Herring                              Area K:  Troy Johnson

Community College Representative:  Vacant

CSEA Staff Coordinator:  Janet Sterling, Field Director, River Delta Field Office

The R&N Committee will have a booth at conference which will be located in the provider area.  The booth will be open on Sunday, July 30, 2017, from 1:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.; and, Monday, July 31, 2017, from 7:30 a.m. to 9:45 a.m.  Please stop by and pick up some informational documentation you can bring back to your Chapter.

The R&N Committee is in the final stage of creating a mock video that can be used to assist and train your negotiation team regarding the do's and do not's at the bargaining table.  This video should be available shortly after conference.  Stay tuned!

If your chapter bargaining committee needs training, you should contact your Labor Relations Representative or local field office to determine when a training is being held in your region.  You may also consult your local Field Office website to find out when their Bargaining Academy or Bargaining 101 trainings will be held.

Bargaining committee members should be including New Employee Orientation (NEO) in every contract.  Meeting and converting new members to become a local chapter member is critical to the strength of your Chapter.  The NEO allows chapters to explain all the benefits of becoming a member which includes a voice and a vote on all CSEA matters, including your contract.  We have provided a sample NEO script that your chapter can use.  We have also provided sample NEO contract language that your negotiating team can use at the table as well as a Comments and Considerations document with useful suggestions/information.

All chapters should make sure they are participating in the Local Control Funding Formula (LCFF) and Local Control Accountability Plan (LCAP).  For more information, review the Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) about LCFF and LCAP.  Also, we have provided a Toolkit which outlines talking points and samples of how your negotiating team can advocate for LCAP funding for the various positions held by classified employees.

Bargaining committee members should be aware of the new minimum wage law which requires the following minimum wage and timeline:  January 1, 2017 - $10.50; January 1, 2018 - $11.00; January 1, 2019 - $12.00; January 1, 2020 - $13.00; January 1, 2021 - $14.00; January 1, 2022 - $15.00.  CSEA has training available regarding the new minimum wage law that will be held at Bargaining Academies or Bargaining 101 Trainings and mini-trainings at RPMs.  Please ask your Labor Relations Representative for detailed information on the new law and to request the training.  For more information, view the new minimum wage law Senate Bill 3.

One of the goals of the R&N Committee is to ensure each CSEA Bargaining Committee member receives an electronic copy of the Bargaining Blast.  In order to accomplish this goal, please continue to update your Labor Relations Representative and local Field Office with your current bargaining committee members and their e-mail addresses.

We have put all the resources on the R&N Committee webpage for your use and reference.

Please do not reply to this e-mail.  The mailbox is not monitored.  If you wish to comment or would like additional information, please contact your respective Area Committee member.
