Executive Director Dave Low
Dave Low is CSEA's Executive Director and Director of Governmental Relations. He is the sixth executive director in CSEA’s history.
Low began his career with CSEA as a Labor Relations Representative in 1981, bargaining contracts, handling grievances, arbitrations, PERB hearings, organizing and local political elections in the San Francisco and San Mateo areas. He began working in Governmental Relations in 1984, taking on the responsibilities of managing legislative, lobbying, political and campaign activities for CSEA’s members. He was appointed executive director in 2011.
Low chairs the Labor Coalition, which includes legislative and political representatives from public employee unions. He is also chair of the Californians for Health Care and Retirement Security. These coalitions represent over a million public employees in California on pension, health care and labor issues.
Low has broad experience in labor, having been a union member, served as a steward and in other local capacities, as a labor representative, worked in governmental relations, and now as the executive director of the largest classified school employee union in the country.
Low attended U.C. Berkeley, where he received his B.S degree in Business Administration.
